This post is made by TED Bursa Koleji Turkey. Our Erasmus Club students visited Onkoday as part of their projects on “job shadowing, and empathy.” During the visit, the students had the opportunity to meet with Onkoday President Füsun Önen. After the meeting, the students visited the guesthouses established for cancer patients and their relatives who come to Bursa for treatment from other cities.

Onkoday was founded in April 1997 at the Radiation Therapy Center of the Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine Hospital by Prof. Dr. Kayıhan Engin, along with former patients, their relatives, and hospital staff who had received treatment at the center. Since its establishment, Onkoday has grown into a larger and stronger team with the participation of healthy volunteers, striving to support those in need.

The Erasmus Club students, in collaboration with another school club, the Rotary Club, have designed a project to support Onkoday. These activities are being prepared to raise awareness about cancer during the National Cancer Week from April 1-7 and to increase public awareness of cancer. Through these projects, the students aim to raise awareness about cancer in society and contribute to Onkoday’s important work.
